Amputee kids Can Soon Have Awesome Superhero, 3D-Printed Designs
Fantastic news for Amputee kids is that they can soon have awesome superhero, 3D-printed prosthetic designs, from all their favorite movies and superheros. Bionic arms such as the light-saber arm from Star Wars, or a superhero arm from Iron Man are just a couple of these new advanced innovations. All thanks to 3D printing!
- The prosthetic arm is built with consultations from parents and health professionals.
- The design allows them to see, with the aid of mounted LED’s, how the signals sent by the gauntlet correspond with the arm.
According to Open Bionics Website
“Now kids can get excited about their prosthetics,” AND “They won’t have to do boring physical therapy, they’ll train to become heroes. They’re not just getting medical devices, they’re getting bionic hands inspired by their favorite characters.”
UK firm Open Bionics has started offering these custom-built prosthetics. The firm is part of the Techstars Disney Accelerator, which is a startup accelerator that allows smaller companies to use the creative expertise offered by the American cartoon giant in order to build Disney-themed entertainment and technology.
